Carla L. Jackson

As the founder and President of CJ|PR, Carla L. Jackson is a seasoned marketing and public relations professional with over 10 years of experience. Part of Ms. Jackson’s success is due to her superior ability to create favorable business-to-consumer relationships for her clients who have included Austin’s Pro Arts Collective, Paradigm Shift, the ACC Center for Public Policy, Nike, the California Wellness Foundation, the California African American Museum, and Hip Hop International Dance Championships.

Before founding her own public relations firm, Ms. Jackson was the Director of Media Relations for The Salvation Army of Southern California. Here, she acted as a spokesperson for all communication venues, and established media objectives and promotional strategies. In addition, Carla has marketed award-winning Broadway and off-Broadway productions such as August Wilson’s Jitney and King Hedley.

Currently, Ms. Jackson is the Associate Director of the Center for Public Policy and Political Studies at Austin Community College. Her work involves getting ACC students and the community to gain knowledge and to actively participate in varied political and policy processes that govern our city, our state and our nation.

Ms. Jackson received her Bachelor of Arts degree in production and performance Summa Cum Laude from Fordham University in New York; and her Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Management from Yale University’s Yale School of Drama in New Haven, Connecticut.

Ms. Jackson believes in the power and necessity of storytelling. “Everyone has a story to tell and something to contribute; we need to take the time to listen and learn.”
